COVID19 Update

9th March, 2020

Updated 10th March 2020

Dear Delegates, Speakers, Sponsors and Exhibitors of AusACPDM2020:

The AusACPDM Board and Conference Committee are continuing to monitor the COVID 19 (Coronavirus) situation, to meet daily and to communicate frequently. This email is to provide you with a further update on our planning.

As there has been no high level changes to the Australian Government warnings and advice, the conference is proceeding with a number of new arrangements.

We are aware of rapidly changing travel and gathering restrictions being put in place within Australian health and educational facilities.

It is critical that you remain up to date with your organisation’s COVID19 management plans including restrictions placed on travel and attendance at conferences and meetings.

If you have already arrived in Perth, you may still need to comply with your organisation’s advice and access the conference via zoom link. Please seek advice from your workplace manager.

We are establishing zoom links for the program and you will be provided with details in a separate email. Please download your Conference App as this will facilitate access to the rooms via zoom. Conference App instructions have already been sent to you from this email account.

Further changes to the conference have been made to accommodate restrictions and to keep our community well. This includes actions consistent with hotels and other services.

We are preparing a brief triage checklist for all people as they arrive to register to self-identify recent travel and health status. This means that the processing of registration may take a little longer than we had originally planned, and we thank you for your patience with this process.

The situation with COVID19 is highly fluid, and information from the Australian Government and State-based Health Departments continues to evolve. The Academy will continue to monitor the situation and communicate with you if the situation changes.

We are committed to putting in place measures to ensure a healthy conference. You can continue to help us with this by:

Firstly, check the current situation;
Australia’s response to the COVID19 is a dynamic situation which is changing daily and we encourage delegates, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors to get up to date information from the Government websites and consider how this information relates to, or affects you.

Because many of our delegates with whom you will interact are health care workers, you should also review the following information which details the countries that are considered to pose either a high or moderate risk of transmission of COVID19.

If you have travelled within the identified high or medium risk countries within the last 14 days, can you please advise the conference organisers.

2020Visionaries will be a handshake-free and hug-free zone!
In an effort to maintain hygiene, we will do “The Wave” or the “Wuhan Handshake” to minimise social physical contact. Please help spread the word!

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water for a minimum of 20 seconds.
  • Hand sanitiser will also be available onsite at the conference as a back-up.
  • Use tissues to cover your mouth in a cough or sneeze and dispose of thoughtfully

Of course, you should refrain from travel and attendance if:

  • You are showing flu-like symptoms
  • You have come into contact with someone with COVID19 or the flu
  • You have recently travelled to one of the countries posing a higher risk of transmission and/or are requiring self-isolation for two weeks

Otherwise, we are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Perth tomorrow.

Kind regards,
Christine Imms
President, AusACPDMPresident, AusACPDM
