2019 AACPDM award, grant and scholarship deadlines approaching
The Sage Award is given to the best multimedia submission presenting clinical, research, or educational material in a digital format. The Award named after Fred P. Sage, MD, past president (1981) and Chairman of the A/V Committee of the AACPDM. Dr. Sage envisioned the great potential of audio-visual use in the Academy. He advocated for ways to popularize this method of teaching, and this interest eventually lead to the Sage Audio-Visual Award for the best program submitted each year. The Mentorship Award recognizes an individual who is an active member of the AACPDM and has demonstrated outstanding leadership mentoring trainees and colleagues in the field of childhood-onset disabilities. Particular focus is placed on the contribution and impact of the mentoring to improve services/care, promote professional education and/or promote research for children with disabilities. The Corbett Ryan Pathways Pioneers Pathways Award recognizes persons representing excellence while pursuing their interests, their dreams and a high quality of life who also happen to live with a personal physical challenge. Research Grants– The AACPDM has partnered with the Pedal-with-Pete Foundation and the Cerebral Palsy Alliance to fund multiple grants, up to $25,000 USD each! Areas of research should focus on topics related to cerebral palsy but now also include research focus areas on other childhood-onset disabilities. Find out more and apply for a grant HERE. Transformative Practice Award– The intent of the transformative practice grant is to facilitate the translation of evidence-based clinical management strategies into practice. Funding is available to support members to plan and implement specific intervention strategies that are supported by evidence. Find out more and apply HERE. Applications will be reviewed in May.
International Travel Scholarship– The Academy seeks applicants who are highly motivated, currently in clinical practice, and who are in a position which will enable them to disseminate knowledge acquired at the meeting to others in their home country once they return. Scholarship applicants must be current AACPDM members or applicants. Particular emphasis is placed on assisting those from areas with under supported medical systems and limited financial resources and additional funding has been allocated for the 2019 Annual Meeting. OrthoPediatrics® Travel Scholarship– Scholarships for the AACPDM Annual Meeting are designed to allow six AACPDM members who are residents/fellows in training or medical professionals early in their career to attend our Annual Meeting who would not otherwise be able to attend. Scholarships are awarded to: Residents/Fellows in training, Physicians in their first year of practice, and Allied Health professionals (nurses, physical, occupational, speech, and recreational therapists) who are at any point in their career. Student Travel Scholarship– The Academy seeks applicants who are full-time students or trainees to apply for this scholarship. Scholarship applicants must be AACPDM members or applicants, and must be an author on an abstract submitted to the Annual Meeting.
