Who should attend? Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists, Medical Specialists, Students.

This 1-day curriculum, designed for clinicians and scientists, will focus on recent advances in motor control and motor learning research in children and adolescents with cerebral palsy (CP). Scientific evidence will be presented and discussed with an emphasis on the implications and application of these insights for clinical practice. Recent findings from studies that make use of novel interventions such as motor imagery, implicit learning, action observation and the stages of motor learning will be highlighted. Examples from current clinical trials will also address key components of treatment protocols that are likely to influence and facilitate change in clinical practice. The course provides a unique opportunity to update clinicians on the latest advances in motor control and learning research in CP and current use in clinical practice.

Instructors CPteaching is hosting in conjunction with Ms Rachel Toovey, physiotherapist and researcher at the University of Melbourne, and highly regarded, international expert in disorders of motor control, Professor Bert Steenbergen.

Hot Topics in Cerebral Palsy

Places are still available –  register by COB Monday 30th October to confirm catering.

This exciting program includes six international and 12 national experts in the field of cerebral palsy. Invited international speakers include Professor Leena Haataja, Professor of Child Neurology, University of Helsinki and Associate Professor Andrea Guzzetta from the University of Pisa, Italy. Associate Professor Mark Mackay from Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne is one of the national invited speakers. Members of the AusCP-CTN CRE will also present their research.
